ALIVE

Greetings dear readers.

By now you probably thought me dead, but I assure you I was not dead but dreaming. Like great Cthulhu in his sunken abode R'lyeh.

Things happen, ya know?

I am awake once more, feeling more alive than ever before; if that's possible. I feel as if I'm finally really LIVING, not just walking through life on auto-pilot. I'll explain how I have come to this new awareness in the next post...

Now a for a poem written before the awakening, but fitting in its own right:

OPEN YOUR EYES
Is it worth destroying your enemy if you are destroyed in the process?
There are no winners and losers, only those who have not yet succumbed to their wounds.
The blood is on everyone’s hands…
Brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters
We are all to blame
Violence will not stop violence
The wolf’s bite, the sheep’s charge
Religion as a crutch for discrimination
Damnation
Continually spitting forth the lies to feed the fires
One man’s words brought a whole nation to hellish fury
Now the whole world is blind
Broken and bleeding
Patriotism is a lie, why can’t we have universalism?
Unite as one world
Reach out a hand to mend each others wounds
Still we close our eyes
Close our minds and live in the illusion
Feeding on propaganda from birth to death
Wallowing in the clotting blood of those gone before us
Refusing to move on and end the slaughter
End this madness
“Is this the mark of a sane world, or one which is so mad that the madmen are not only running the asylum, but have redefined sanity?”

Silent Terror

2/12/09- 2:00am

I awoke to the sound of screams
In the distance, the cries of my brethren
Pierce me to the core, but I can do nothing,
Paralyzed with fear, rooted.
I hear the sharp roars of the enemy
In the hands of those who were once friends.

With each passing day, they draw closer
My fate is sealed, I cannot run.
My limbs outstreched
In all directions, defenseless.

Today I see their faces, no emotion,
Only exhaustion from their gruesome work,
Butchery.
Their hands, sticky with the blood
Of my brothers and sisters.
The roar of their devouring blades,
surrounding me, whirling teeth,
Tearing into flesh,
Dismemberment.

But what is this?
They maimed me, tore me to pieces,
then left me to bleed? To die a slow death?
The pain is unbearable, someone end this madness!
I await the rain, to cleanse my wounds,
Heal me,
Before they tear me apart again

Yesterday

Yesterday
I conquered my fear of bees
(with a surprising amount of ease).
I was waiting for my class,
sitting in the hallway on my ass.
Reading yet another book,
when downward I did look.
I found on my green jacket,
to my surprise, a yellow jacket!
To stay calm, I tried my best,
as my heart stopped dead in my chest.
I took my book and swatted it away,
(what did you think I would say?)
It began to crawl across the floor,
now I aimed to even out the score.
Beneath my book it was flattened,
before it even knew what happened.
This was not a fatal blow which
only caused it to flail and twitch.
To be sure, I hit it again
I wanted it dead (amen)
Sure enough, it gave it final throes
after my two deathblows.
I emerged victorious,
it was glorious.
I'd conquered my fear of bees.

This happened yesterday, but I figured telling it poetically would be more fun.
